’m a water woman, maybe it’s because I’m Dutch, maybe it’s in my genes.
In any case, I’m crazy about water. When I was a little girl, the only thing I wanted to do on vacation, was swim. And to be honest, that hasn’t changed much.
The sea is my favorite, but it gets really warm during the Summer months – I don’t know about you, but the last thing I want to do when I feel like a slow-cooked meal, is dive into warm water (sometimes I do make the sacrifice, though).
To switch it up a little, I decided to look for public outdoor swimming pools. There aren’t many in Valencia, but at least there are some! We’re just gonna stick to the motto: quality over quantity ;-)
Before we dive into this, keep in mind that most public outdoor swimming pools open in June and close in September, so do check the links before you grab your swimwear.
- Piscina del Parque del Oeste
If you can’t choose between lap swimming, dancing, or quality time with your family, then why not combine them all?
Piscina del Parque del Oeste has an Olympic swimming pool, a children’s water park, and a medium-sized swimming pool with slides.
But the party really starts on Friday nights when a DJ stops by and turns up the volume. Sounds like fun to me!

- Piscina la Hípica
The summer pool is one of the popular attractions of this unique space in Valencia. You might be thinking: “wait, there’s more?”
Yes, correct, La Hípica isn’t just a swimming pool, it’s also a horse riding center, tennis club, and soccer field.
So, if you need to release a bit more energy after your swim, there are plenty of other things to do.
Important to know: the pool isn’t very suitable for kids as it’s very big and deep.

- Piscina Parque de Benicalap
In the beautiful park of Benicalap, you’ll find Piscina Parque de Benicalap.
This outdoor swimming pool is over 2000 square meters!
Whatever your mood, this place suits almost everyone’s needs – there’s a children’s water park, a spacious garden, a bar-cafe, and a game area.
You’ll be sure to have a great time here.

- Pool Beach Port Saplaya
Do you wanna go to the beach but really dislike the warm seawater?
Pool Beach Port Saplaya is a big outdoor swimming pool overlooking the sea.
Ha, the best of both worlds, if you ask me.
Everything you need for a relaxing day at the water is right there – there are plenty of sunbeds, parasols, and changing rooms with showers.
As if all of this wasn’t enough, they also offer massages and snacks. Can I go already? ;-)

- Piscina Castellar L’Oliveral
This is a very simple outdoor swimming pool. Sometimes less is more, right?
Piscina Castellar L’Oliveral is ideal for those who enjoy lap swimming. Is it suitable for kids? I’m not sure about that.
There’s a mini pool, but that's about it, so it wouldn’t be my first choice. However, if your kids are easily entertained, I would just give it a try.

Extra advice:
- Most swimming pools offer a stamp card, it might be interesting to get yourself one, this is usually cheaper if you plan to go often.
- If you wanna bring your own food and drinks, check if it's allowed, as that’s not always the case.
We’ve created a Google Maps list with all public outdoor swimming pools in Valencia, you’ll find the pools from this list as well as a few other, simple ones.
Have a good swim!
Un abrazo,
Stephanie
