La Fábrica de Hielo is an old ice factory that transformed into an amazing venue where different artistic disciplines come together: music, dance, literature, cinema, architecture, theater, and much more. It’s one of our favorite chill-out spots to grab a drink and bite while enjoying the tunes of a local artist in El Cabanyal.
With its high-rise walls, multiple plants, and industrial interior combined with mismatching vintage furniture, La Fábrica de Hielo is one of the most unique and spacious bars/restaurants in Valencia. Not a fan of the indoors? No worries, there’s a terrace outside for sea breeze fanatics, as it’s located next to the beach.
Menu - less is more
It’s clear that I find this place absolutely cool and that’s not just because it used to be an ice factory ;-) However, food and drinks are important to us too, as you might have read before.
La Fabricá de Hielo’s kitchen and bar are both food truck containers, how awesome is that? Their menu is a bit limited, but sometimes less is more: they serve homemade tapas, sandwiches, burgers, local beers, and great cocktails. Some of my favorite snacks are Bravas “La Regional”, Nachos de la casa, La Buratta and their hamburgers. However, they often change their menu, so do check that before you go. One thing's for sure: you can always have a sip of their lovely Aperol Spritz, Turia beer, or Vermut. Ya está, you’ll have a perfect day or night out.
How to order
You can order through the QR codes on the tables. Scan it and the menu will pop up. Select what you want and pay – you can do this through Apple Pay. If this isn’t possible for you, you can ask the waiters if you can pay by card or cash. Once you’ve paid, the waiters will bring your delicious snacks or drinks to your table. It’s as simple as that!
Events
They organize lots of events such as concerts, comedy nights, jam sessions, dance performances, art exhibitions, vintage markets, and whatnot. These events are very popular, so make sure to leave your house (or the beach) on time as they don’t take reservations. There’s usually a long waiting line an hour before the event starts. However, waiting is not a total punishment – the vibe is usually good, there are many fun and friendly people and the doorman is always up for a chat.
Everyone is welcome
Speaking about the doorman, I consider him my friend (even though he still doesn’t know it). The rest of the hard-working staff is really friendly too.
One of the things I love most about La Fábrica de Hielo is that it doesn’t matter if you’re chilling in your beach outfit with your messy, salty hair or if you’re all dressed up. It also doesn’t matter if you’re a human being or a dog: everyone is welcome, any time of day, any time of year. Even though this place is spacious, it still feels very homey.
Free advice
- It’s easy to get there by bike, Yego, car, bus, or Valenbisi. There are plenty of Valenbisi stations nearby but do check it beforehand as this is a popular parking spot during the weekends. The same goes for cars, there are plenty of parking spots right in front, but this area can be crowded, especially during summer. There are several bus stops as well and some parking spots for scooters.
