n a clear day, you can even see the mountains surrounding the city. It’s spectacular. Atenea Sky is a rooftop bar in the city center which is located on top of the Ateneo Mercantil de Valencia. It has been one of our favourites for years, but since they renovated it, it’s even better. There’s just something magical about watching sunsets on a roof as you sip on a cocktail.
How to get to the top
The entrance is at Calle de Moratín 12, and it costs 8 euros to go up. From there take the elevator to the top floor. When you arrive, you have to wait for the staff to give you a spot.
Viewing point
I absolutely love seeing the city from a different point of view. From the terrace, you can see the town hall and Plaza del Ayuntamiento. For the full 360-degree view of Valencia’s beautiful historical buildings, go up the stairs to the viewing point.
Wind, rain or snow? No problem!
Atenea Sky has made lots of improvements to protect its guests from the cold, wind, and rain. Now you can enjoy these views all year round! They have expanded the bar, improved their menu and started hosting DJs during the evenings. This is definitely a great spot if you feel like it’s time for a fiesta!
Drinks & tapas
The drinks, meals and tapas at Atenea Sky are just as good as the views. If you’re just going for a drink, we recommend trying some of their cocktails, or jarras de tinto de verano.
Safe & sound
If you’re afraid of heights (like me), going to a rooftop bar might not be your first choice, but don’t sweat it - this one feels (and is) very safe.
Free advice:
- If you want to make sure you have the best spot and views, go before or after Spanish mealtimes and make sure you have a reservation.
- For people who are on a budget: keep in mind that this place is on the pricey side.
- If you’d like to add something to your must-see list, visit one of their expositions downstairs! You can buy tickets online.
